It’s hard to wrap your head around the love that a mom has for her kids (especially if you’re neither a mom, nor a woman), but humor me for a minute…

Upon pregnancy, moms embark on one of the most incredible journeys that one could ever imagine, the true depths of which only they can comprehend. After a long, beautiful, and often arduous process of change, growth, and birth, what emerges is something that we all once were— a tiny human, fully dependent upon the love, protection, guidance, and everything else, of the person that just shifted her whole world to grow us in her belly (scientifically speaking).

Though we often take it for granted, the scope of a mom’s devotion to her children is unfathomable (and doesn’t make sense unless you’re her). What else in this world is truly a lifelong endeavor? Once we’re out in the world having play dates as kids, awkwardly dancing our way through middle school formals, driving our friends around before we’ve had our license for long enough, starting “grown up” lives of our own, and royally screwing sh*t up all along the way, we’re constantly on our moms’ minds. No matter where we are or what we do, she’s sending us good vibes, and is more concerned about our well being than she is her own. Losing sight of this is easy to do, but the degree of vastness to which a mother’s care for her children reaches is enough to knock you over when you stop and think about it.

So, if you’re lucky enough to have her close by, hug your mom today— without her you wouldn’t exist!
